37 Week Scare and Temple Day

Soooo .... on Friday the new Batman movie started. Me, Michael, and Mathew decided that we really wanted to see it and we didn't want to wait till that night so we went to a matinee. First of all the movie was great ... the cramping that started during the movie and lasted almost the whole movie and just got worse and worse as the movie went on, was not so great! In fact as soon as the movie was over I looked to Michael and Mathew and was crying and threw my purse at Mathew and said "We gotta go now!" I guess the first thoughts that were going through Michael and Mathew's heads were, "Well the ending was sad but it wasn't that sad!". Then it registered and Mathew looked at me and said "Are you going into labor? Do we need to go to the hospital?" and then before I knew it Michael was already on the phone with my mom who was at a little meeting for Michael and Courtney's wedding and he was telling her she needed to leave. So we all hurried home and waited for Mom to get home and tell us what to do next.

By the time Mom had gotten home, I had already gone to the bathroom and had noticed that the little mucous plug, that keeps your cervix blocked and kind of holds the baby in per say, was already gone. I began to sob! I think I was more scared than anything else but the only thought that kept going through my head was that I wasn't ready for this and that Dr. Groom was out of town and I don't want to have Kole with out Dr. Groom being there. Don't ask me why! I know there are other Dr.'s on call for Dr. Groom but I just wanted Dr. Groom! When my mom got home she tried to tell me we needed to go to the hospital and get checked out and that maybe Kole was coming today and all I could say was that I didn't want to go. I talked to Travis as well and I kept telling him that I didn't want to go to the hospital as well either. I was a bit hysterical actually. Finally Travis was on the phone with my mom and he kept telling her "You need to take her to the hospital," and my mom said "I'm trying but she keeps saying she's not going!"

Finally after I calmed down a little bit, me and my mom headed to the hospital where Travis met us and we went on up to the Labor and Delivery floor where they put us in Triage and where we waited for some time for them to do ANYTHING with us. Finally after monitoring the contractions, which was cool too watch, and Kole's heart beat, the nurse came in and checked me. She said that I was still between 3-4 cm dilated and 75% effaced and -2 station. That was quite a relief.

After calling the on-call Dr. for Dr. Groom, the nurse came back and said that he wasn't too concerned and that I could go home. That was a relief as well. She said that I probably just started feeling the contractions and up until this point I hadn't felt anything at all!

So we went on our way and headed home. After this experience today I was kind of relieved we did go to the hospital. It was very re-assuring that everything was ok and I guess you could say it was like a practice run. In the end  I was grateful for this learning experience, even though it wasn't much fun! But I also learned that Kole really likes Batman! :)

....

The other festivities for this weekend were on Saturday. Courtney was down here in town and ready to go through the temple for the first time. We had planned on going to the temple session with her but Travis and I joked that if I stand up and walk out during the session that he is to follow right behind me! :) Luckily we were able to stay through the whole session and share this special day with Courtney.

Also there were no pains or anything through out the whole session. Which was quite a blessing itself.
