37 Week Scare and Temple Day

Soooo .... on Friday the new Batman movie started. Me, Michael, and Mathew decided that we really wanted to see it and we didn't want to wait till that night so we went to a matinee. First of all the movie was great ... the cramping that started during the movie and lasted almost the whole movie and just got worse and worse as the movie went on, was not so great! In fact as soon as the movie was over I looked to Michael and Mathew and was crying and threw my purse at Mathew and said "We gotta go now!" I guess the first thoughts that were going through Michael and Mathew's heads were, "Well the ending was sad but it wasn't that sad!". Then it registered and Mathew looked at me and said "Are you going into labor? Do we need to go to the hospital?" and then before I knew it Michael was already on the phone with my mom who was at a little meeting for Michael and Courtney's wedding and he was telling her she needed to leave. So we all hurried home and waited for Mom to get home and tell us what to do next.

By the time Mom had gotten home, I had already gone to the bathroom and had noticed that the little mucous plug, that keeps your cervix blocked and kind of holds the baby in per say, was already gone. I began to sob! I think I was more scared than anything else but the only thought that kept going through my head was that I wasn't ready for this and that Dr. Groom was out of town and I don't want to have Kole with out Dr. Groom being there. Don't ask me why! I know there are other Dr.'s on call for Dr. Groom but I just wanted Dr. Groom! When my mom got home she tried to tell me we needed to go to the hospital and get checked out and that maybe Kole was coming today and all I could say was that I didn't want to go. I talked to Travis as well and I kept telling him that I didn't want to go to the hospital as well either. I was a bit hysterical actually. Finally Travis was on the phone with my mom and he kept telling her "You need to take her to the hospital," and my mom said "I'm trying but she keeps saying she's not going!"

Finally after I calmed down a little bit, me and my mom headed to the hospital where Travis met us and we went on up to the Labor and Delivery floor where they put us in Triage and where we waited for some time for them to do ANYTHING with us. Finally after monitoring the contractions, which was cool too watch, and Kole's heart beat, the nurse came in and checked me. She said that I was still between 3-4 cm dilated and 75% effaced and -2 station. That was quite a relief.

After calling the on-call Dr. for Dr. Groom, the nurse came back and said that he wasn't too concerned and that I could go home. That was a relief as well. She said that I probably just started feeling the contractions and up until this point I hadn't felt anything at all!

So we went on our way and headed home. After this experience today I was kind of relieved we did go to the hospital. It was very re-assuring that everything was ok and I guess you could say it was like a practice run. In the end  I was grateful for this learning experience, even though it wasn't much fun! But I also learned that Kole really likes Batman! :)

....

The other festivities for this weekend were on Saturday. Courtney was down here in town and ready to go through the temple for the first time. We had planned on going to the temple session with her but Travis and I joked that if I stand up and walk out during the session that he is to follow right behind me! :) Luckily we were able to stay through the whole session and share this special day with Courtney.

Also there were no pains or anything through out the whole session. Which was quite a blessing itself.

37 Weeks

Today we met with Stephanie PA at our appointment because Dr. Groom is out of town. She checked me and said that I am now between 3 and 4 cm dilated and 75% effaced and still at a -2 station. I am moving along quite quickly and I don't know yet how I feel about it. Stephanie predicts that if I were to work tonight (Thursday)  then with all the walking around and everything that Baby Kole could come this weekend. I don't know if I want that to happen though because Dr. Groom is out of town. Her prediction is that Baby Kole will go from being an August Baby to a July Baby. I think I might be ok with that though! :) I'm going to try and take a break tonight from work and this weekend and try and wait until Dr. Groom at least gets back into town to move this baby along.

36 Weeks

So this week when we went to our appt. we met with Dr. Groom. The last time we met with him was at our very first appt. Man how time flys! Today was the first appt that they start checking me and seeing how far along I am. First of all I'm now 150 lbs! Ughhh I hate that! Oh well! But after Dr. Groom checked me he said I was about 2 cm dilated and about 50% effaced and at -2 station. He also pointed out that I'm a lot farther along than someone with their first child should be. That's just lovely news! ;P Dr. Groom said he'd be surprised if we make it to our due date let alone the wedding day (Michael and Courtney are getting married August 4 and our due date is August8). He also pointed out that the soonest he could induce us, if we wanted to be, is August 1. We've got some thinking to do! We also start going to the Dr. every week now! We're getting even closer now!

Baby Shower at 34 weeks

On June 30th, my mom and some of her friends threw me and Kole a Baby shower. It was a lot of fun and we got some awesome gifts! I think we’re set now! ;)

This week we’re also at week 34! We’re moving and growing right along! This week at our appt. my mom was able to come with me. We met with Stephanie the PA again and we all got to listen to the heart beat. Stephanie also brought in one of the older ultrasound machines since grandma was there and she tried to show her little Kole's profile. He wasn't cooperating very well though. We saw a little bit of his face and head but he was moving around too much. That little stinker! :) Oh and at this appt I now weigh 148 lbs! Holly Cow!

32 weeks

So we've made it to 32 weeks! It's crazy how fast time is going. I'm not complaining though! Today was the 32 week appointment and I got to listen to the heart beat again. After that I went and got my blood drawn to make sure I'm not anemic. That was pretty much all we did this week. Starting now though I have appointments every 2 weeks! We're getting close! Oh and I haven't had any more sharp pains or anything. So that's good news too!

30 weeks - Scare

So this last weekend was Memorial Day weekend and we had an extra long weekend. At first we were excited about that but then after I started having sharp pains down towards the bottom of my stomach, we weren't so glad it was a long weekend. Being a long weekend, the doctor's office wasn't going to be open until Tuesday morning so I couldn't ask anybody about it unless I went to the hospital, which I really didn't want to do. The pains were so sharp that they made me cry. It was definitely not a good experience. Come Tuesday morning I made an appt. with the Dr. and had the PA check everything out and make sure everything was ok. She said that it was probably just the Braxton Hicks contractions coming and going and/or the baby was sitting on the nerves at the bottom of my stomach and sending sharp pains everywhere. It was a relief to know that it wasn't anything serious. I guess it's just a preview of what's to come! :)

28 Weeks!

Well we're getting closer and closer ... but not soon enough! We're at 28 weeks now. We went to our appointment today and they did another ultrasound. This time the ultrasound tech took a 3-D picture! I didn't even know she could do that with her ultrasound but it was a very cool surprise!

We also got some other good news from this appointment. Stephanie PA said that the placenta has moved up a whole 4.5cm! I know it doesn't seem like a lot but it is! She says there's no need to worry about anything at all now. What a relief! I contribute this to the blessing I had on the Sunday (Mother's Day - May 13) before my appointment. Travis had given me a blessing at my Mom's house and my Dad and Michael & Mathew were able to participate as well. It was a very amazing experience and I'll always remember it.

Other updates include that I now weigh around 144 lbs. :/ Still not used to this weight gain part of the pregnancy. We were also able to listen to the heart beat again as well. It's all a miracle and never gets old thinking about how Travis and I are going to have a baby! We can't wait to meet the little guy! :D

We're now headed to Phoenix to spend the weekend for our 2nd year anniversary! It's crazy how so much can change in 2 years!
